Breast Cancer Information
Remember the key to survival is early detection!
According to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® an estimated 4.4 million women are alive today in whom breast cancer was diagnosed within the last five years.
Over the next 25 years, another 25 million women and men are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer and another 10 million people will die of breast cancer.
Breast Cancer claimed the lives of some 40,000 women in the Unites states in 2007 and is second only to lung cancer as the leading cause of cancer deaths in females.1 An estimated 178,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women in 20071 and another 182,000 are expected to be diagnosed in 2008.2
Much information is available for breast cancer patients, their families, friends and loved ones. The CBCP uses and recommends a publication by the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization™ titled At your Fingertips - A Resource Guide for Breast Cancer Patients. http://www.networkofstrength.org/mid-atlantic/programs/localresources/index.php.
